The Banco Chinchorro lies a four hour drive from Cancun in the community of Xcalak, near the border with Belize

Directions from Cancun:

Drive south on the coast road Highway 307. (Be sure to fill your tank in Carrillo Puerto!)

Pass through the village of Limones and turn left on Highway 10 at Cafetal. Drive about 55 kilometers to the junction just west of Majahual. Turn right. (This is a new road, just completed within the past year.)

Drive south about 55 kilometers to the end of the road. Turn left at the junction and follow the road through the town of Xcalak. (The road will bend left near the football/soccer fields.) Continue heading north out of town and over a bridge. The road parallels the shore. In about 2 kilometers you will arrive at Costa de Cocos on the right.

The trip will take approximately 4 hours.

Note: You'll probably go through some military checkpoints - it's nothing to worry about; they're just doing their job, and won't hassle legitimate tourists. Have your tourist cards handy!
